Hamilton’s downtown renaissance continues with the launch of a new live music performance hall at New Vision Church. We’re reaching out to the Hamilton community to help us reshape this historical downtown space and contribute to Hamilton’s cultural vibrancy and livability. We’ll be installing new seating, improving fire safety, adding an elevator for people and for equipment, building several new washrooms, re-flooring the main floor, adding flexible staging for a variety of performances ranging from theatre in the round to bands and small classical music orchestras.

The Music Hall: History and music in the making

Built in 1868 and soon to be historically designated, The Centenary Church is significant to Hamilton’s cultural and architectural heritage. With terrific sightlines and superb acoustics, this iconic downtown landmark can seat 300 to 1,100 people for live music and theatrical performances. The hall will also be a gathering place in support of social justice, social innovation, social enterprise and urban issues events.

I remember visiting the church for the Dofasco Choir performances at Christmas time. Back then the program was televised and aired on CH TV. One year my infant daughter and my sister, who sang in the choir, were featured on the TV commercial.
